IU wins, but not before some kid from Iowa hits 6 3 pters in the final two minutes to spur a comeback.

Indiana - Western Carolina

Western Carolina is coached by Larry Hunter.  I went to Larry Hunter's basketball for several years while a kid. He was the coach of the small university in town, Wittenburg.  They won a D3 national title in basketball (and football too, actually) one of the years that I lived there and were a perenial top 10 team.  Eventually he moved on to be the head coach at Ohio U and finally an assistant to Herb at NC State.  He might have had more talent on the Tyrone Curtis/Brian Agler teams that he does at Western Carolina.  Indiana behind big first halves of Eric Gordon and DJ White go into the break up 52-24.  Hoosiers play solid all night in winning 100-52.  However, since I slam all teams that schedule these expected blowouts I will take IU to task as well as coming up this week they have Chicago St and Coppin St.  There just isnt any rason to have teams come in from North Carolina and Baltimore to get their asses whipped - there are teams in the midwest to play.  And while we are at it- there are better teams to play.  The 1976 Indiana Hoosiers - arguable the best team of all team, but at the very least the last undefeated team at 32-0 played OVER HALF of their games that year against teams in the TOP 20, including beating the team ranked #2 in the country FOUR times.  A good team doesnt need to shirk the competition.  Play 'em and beat 'em.

Wisconsin - Wisconsin Green Bay

The Horizon is a shitty conference.  Take Butler out of it (put them in Missouri Valley with St Louis.)  Merge the Horizon with the Summit and flush the whole mess back to D2.  Anyhow, if they have to stay around then I dont mind the Phoenix of Green Bay, harkening back to the glory days when the Bennetts were there.  And this is certainly a geographically responsible game so I have no problems with Bo Ryan scheduling this win.  The spread is only 14 (64-50) with 5 minutes to play. but this was never really a contest.

Michigan St - Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne

I finally get to see Dane Fife's team.  Michigan St 40-29 at the half.  The Mastadons are only down 4 with 15 minutes to play.  I don't get the hype about Raymar Morgan.

Ohio St - Presbyterian

I think they are called the Pale Hose.  I know they shouldnt be playing D1 basketball.  They were a fine D2 program and still should be a D2 program fighting to win games and even tournaments that they are capable of.  It's silly that Ohio St is able to play this "write the check" blowout when fans and players would rather they match up against Xavier or Dayton.  This game was a joke.  No one on Presbyterian College has the talent level to be a meaningful walk on in the Big Eleven.  PC took an early lead 14-11 before the Fucknuts went on a 16 point run.  Not even remoting resemblinga basketball game in the second half the final is 79-40.

Michigan - Oakland

Michigan is bad.  I have seen them be real bad.  So how bad must Oakland be that Michigan has 55 pts at the half.  Big Blue is shooting 60% from the field , nearly 50% from 3 pt land, has 22 rebs at the half.  Oakland has 20 minutes left before they can take their paycheck and go home and prepare for a horrible season in the horrible Summit League.  Michigan breaks the 100 point maker but gives up 90 to Oakland.

Ohio St - Coppin St

The only college basketball game televised tonight - anywhere.  Slim pickings of exam week.  I dont like Ohio St - the fucknuts nor the miserable wretched "coach."  Coppin St is the hired victim tonight, see my previous discussion on the matter.  Imagine my surprise that Coppin St is only down 25-22 at the half.  they have completely taken the air out of the ball in this game - harkens me back to the old pre-shot clock days.  Coppin St clearly does not have enough talent to be in this ballgame, but they get the first 10 rebounds of the second half.  Its still close 34-33 with about 6 minutes left.  Half of their points have been scored by a guy off the bench.  I gotta find out if he was benched for disciplinary problems.  Oddly, there are no fouls being called.  Also, odd, the leading scorer for the Fucknuts is also a guy off the bench.  Maybe these coaches should pay more attention at practice.  This is ugly basketball.  Only 10 free throws attempted total between the two teams.  Ohio St goes on a "run" to end up the victor 47-39.  I bet I could have seen better ball at the Y tonight.  PS - Screw you Thad Matta.

Wisconsin - Marquette

The Brown-Green Game.  i have Leinenkugle's and Captain's at my side for this much anticipated matchup.  Alright Gunny, any team that can win in the Kohl Center earns a place in my Top 25 (next edition to be released December 15.)  Turnovers and free throws hurt the Badgers in this one.
