Elk Neck State Park

Elk Neck State Park is located on a peninsula at the head of the Chesapeake Bay, between the North East River and the Elk River. The park has several circular trails, the woods are full of side trails, and the markers weren’t very consistent, so it was difficult to stay on the main trail.  The biggest downside is that most trails are pets prohibited.

Pohick Bay Day Two

So the rain stopped long enough that I could prepare a campfire for hot dogs and smores.  Tasty and Nikki loved laying next to the heat.  Roxy. on the other hand, prefers under the picnic table .. or amusingly, during the rain, under the bus.

Pohick Bay

The maiden voyage with Professor Poppy Van Mustard.  As there are still some safety issues to be fixed, we stayed close to home - the closest spor in fact, Pohick Bay.  It was 87 degrees when the dogs and I left, and I was concerned about the heat.  Within hours, I learned that rain was to be the culprit of the weekend.

At Potomac Overlook Park, where oddly you no longer overlook the Potomac River.
