Kegs and Rubber

AMES, Iowa (AP) -- A sidewalk project means there may be a little bounce to the beer kegs instead of dings in the pavement when delivery trucks unload. The city is installing a rubber sidewalk at a spot near the Iowa State University campus where beer distributors unload hundreds of kegs from trucks for bars in the area.

All those heavy kegs hitting the ground have been cracking the concrete pavement. So now city officials have decided to install sidewalk pavers that a California company makes using shredded recycled tires instead of concrete.

Calling All Condoms

NEW DELHI (AFP) - A cellphone ringtone that chants "condom, condom!" has been launched in India to promote safe sex and tackle the growing HIV/AIDS epidemic.

The "condom a cappella" has been designed to break down Indians' reluctance to discuss condom use and to make wearing a condom more acceptable.

Organisers of the campaign, funded by the foundation set up by Microsoft mogul Bill Gates and his wife Melinda, hope the ringtone will become a craze among young Indians.

The Airport Best Buy

The next time you realize you forgot to pack your phone charger or an SD card while waiting for your flight, find out if there's a Best Buy gadget kiosk near you. According to News Factor, Best Buy is rolling out several self-service gadget vending machines at airport terminals stocked with everything from digital cameras to chargers as part of a pilot program.

So far nine of the twelve kiosks are already in place in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and San Francisco, while the remaining three will be deployed sometime before September 1.

Some of the high-tech items you can expect to see at these vending machines may include PSPs, digital cameras, SD cards, MP3 players, and USB cables all sold at affordable prices, according to a Best Buy spokesman who says customers can expect to pay store prices, and not airport prices, when shopping at these self-service stores. 

For this project, Best Buy teamed up with the popular ZoomSystems, who has helped Apple and Sony sell their wares to busy travelers rushing through airports, hotel lobbies, and malls everywhere through the now recognizable ZoomShops kiosks.
